In our September Journal Club presented by Dr. Sneha Kohli Mathur, we will be exploring the essential topic, “Cultural Responsiveness Curriculum for Behavior Analyst: A meaningful step towards social justice”.
Overview:
In this session, we will explore a framework that integrates critical race theory (CRT) with behavior analysis, offering a culturally responsive approach to treating autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in marginalized communities. Inspired by Brodhead’s work on translating nonbehavioral treatments into behavior analytic principles, this presentation will focus on how practitioners can incorporate CRT and cultural competence into their decision-making processes. The authors propose a framework aimed at addressing systemic racism and implicit biases within healthcare, particularly as they impact BIPOC clients receiving ASD treatment.
We invite you to join this discussion, where the author will present and discuss this comprehensive framework. This session is designed to equip Board Certified Behavior Analysts with the tools needed to enhance cultural responsiveness and improve service delivery outcomes. Whether your background is in applied behavior analysis, educational or residential care settings, or you simply have a keen interest in culturally informed practices, your insights and perspectives will be invaluable in enriching this important conversation.
